PINEHURST, N.C. – WKU Women’s Golf junior Catie Craig claimed the 122nd Women’s North and South Amateur Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The Georgia native had a stellar week of golf on the Pinehurst No. 2 course that just recently hosted the U.S. Open. Craig was near the top of the leaderboard for the entirety of the tournament, tying for third in both rounds of stroke play after posting a 143 over the two days. The Lady Topper put in five birdies in the two rounds.
Craig then moved on to match play where she was the three seed. She beat golfers from Florida State and The University of North Carolina on her way to the final four of match play.
In her final four match up, she defeated Vanderbilt’s Lynn Lim 2 and 1 on her way to the championship match up. There, Craig faced No. 1 seed Macy Pate.
The Lady Topper built a 3-up lead before putting in a putt on the 15th hole to claim the championship and win 4 and 3. Craig has added onto what has already been an impressive summer run for her as she was just recently named a CUSA Scholar Athlete of the Year.
