With the 2024 high school golf season less than a week away, some area golfers competed in one of the last summer junior events Monday.
At Paul Walker Golf Course, Braeden Furlong, who will be a senior at Barren County this fall, finished third in the Bowling Green City Boys’ Junior Championship. He shot even-par 72, which was one stroke behind Zachary Sloan of Hart County and Jake Price of Bowling Green. Sloan won the title in a one-hole playoff in the 17-18 age division.
In the boys’ 12-14 division, JP Ross of Glasgow finished third with an 83. Paxton Fuqua of Bowling Green won the division.
Layton Richey, who plays high school golf at Greenwood, won the boys’ 15-16 division with a 72.
For both Barren County and Glasgow boys’ golf, the season opens Monday, July 22, at Barren River State Park with the Barren County Trojan Cup.
