With the start of the high school golf season five days away, Barren County’s Lucy Zalla competed in one of the final summer tour tournaments.
The rising junior shot a 4-over par 78 at Paul Walker Golf Course to finish third overall in the Bowling Green City Girls’ Junior Championship. South Warren’s Sydney McClanahan won the title with an even-par 74. Zalla was second in her age division, 15-16 year olds, behind Elsie Espinola, who was second overall with a 76.
Zalla and the Barren County girls’ golf team open their season Monday at the Pearl Club in Owensboro.
