Barren County finished fourth in the Women’s Kentucky Invitational Tournament on Saturday, but was only eight strokes behind second-place Bowling Green.
Fellow Region 3 opponent South Warren won the team title with a 329, while Bowling Green, which also plays in Region 3, shot 340, and Barren finished with a 348.
Those three girls’ teams have set themselves apart as the top trio with a little over a month left until the regional tournament at Rolling Hills Golf Course. The Region 3 Tournament is Sept. 24 in Russellville.
At Lakewood Country Club on Saturday, Chloe Witcher led Barren with an 84, while Tinsley Neagle shot 85, Kinsey Edwards fired 87 and Lucy Zalla finished with a 92. Those four rounds were used to calculate the team score.
Also for Barren, Alli Spillman posted a 102, and Rayleigh Tarry finished with a 111.
Glasgow’s girls’ team also played in the tournament and finished with a 469. Emory Gardner led the Lady Scotties with an 88, while Harlow Bale shot 121, Reese Chaney fired 127 and Abrielle Zurek finished with a 133.
