Bree Russell Smith, a former Barren County golfer, and the Midway women’s golf team will play the final fall tournament beginning Monday.
Smith, a senior for the Eagles, and her teammates have not played since winning the River States Conference fall preview Sept. 24. When weather forced the cancellation of the final nine holes, the Eagles held an eight stroke lead over St. Mary of the Woods and a nine-stroke edge over Indiana East. Midway finished the two-day, three-round tournament with a 40-over-par score of 472 to win it for a fifth consecutive year.
Smith shot 14-over to finish tied for eighth.
Midway plays in the Firehawk Invitational in Athens, Ala. on Monday and Tuesday.
