Bree Russell Smith closed the fall portion of her senior college season this week. The former Barren County standout tied for 15th as an individual as Midway University was tied for second as a team.
Smith shot 77 on Day 2 of the Firehawk Women’s Golf Invitational in Athens, Ala. to lead the Eagles on the day. She shot 161 overall.
Midway and Spring Hill (Ala.) each shot 643, while Loyola (La.) won with a 609.
Maryssa Phillips and Kasey Cameron led the way for the Eagles, both cracking the top-10 while finishing just one stroke apart.
Phillips tied for seventh with a final score of 156 (+12). Her opening day, four-over-par score of 76 on Monday was the best round shot by a Midway player in the tournament.
Cameron was right behind with a 157 (+13), tying for ninth place.
Kelsay Collins and Sophie Lester rounded out the scoring, finishing with a 169 (+25) to tie for 22nd place.
