Griffin Jackson, a soon-to-be Glasgow eighth grader, captured the individual title of the Barren County Trojan Cup on Monday at Barren River State Park Golf Course. He shot an even-par 71 to win the event by two strokes ahead of Collin Shive of Metcalfe County.
Shive’s round led the Hornets to second in the team competition, one stroke behind Mason County, which shot 313. Glasgow finished eighth as a team with a 333, while Barren County was 10th with a 344.
For the Scotties, after Jackson, Harrison Belcher shot 78, while Tate Pace posted an 80, Tucker Garrett shot 104 and Sam Allen finished with a 109. Playing as an individual, Gary Pennington fired a 108.
For the Trojans, Braeden Furlong led the way with a 76, while Cameron Pippen shot 87, Jay Houchens posted a 90, Jacob Spence fired a 91 and Will Broady Spillman finished with a 93. Playing as an individual for Barren, Lincoln Zalla shot 110.
In the individual rankings, Khalin Walden of Cumberland County, Tyson Gregory of South Laurel and Zach Sloan of Hart County each shot 74 to finish third through fifth.
