Senior Braeden Furlong’s round of 34 through nine holes proved to be the difference between Barren County and Glasgow on Thursday at Willow Oaks Golf Club. The next lowest round on Senior Day for both squads was a 39 by Glasgow eighth-grader Griffin Jackson. The Trojans beat the Scotties, 162-167.
Furlong was one of four seniors competing for Barren. The others were Jacob Spence, who shot 48, Will Spillman, who fired 47, and Joshua Decker, who finished with 48. Glasgow had two seniors recognized: Harrison Belcher, who shot 41, and Sam Allen, who finished with a 46.
Also for the Trojans, Jay Houchens shot 39, Cameron Pippen fired 44, JP Ross posted a 45, and Braxton Hall finished with a 65.
Also for the Scotties, Tate Pace and Gavin Copas each fired 41, Tucker Garrett shot 47, Wilder Pate posted a 50, Jackson Norris and Wyatt Morgan each shot 52, Gary Pennington and Carter Hodges each shot 53, and Lucas Kuykendall finished with a 55.
Both Glasgow and Barren County will return to action Saturday morning in the Danny Spillman Bowling Green Invitational Tournament at Bowling Green Country Club. Both teams tee off at 7 a.m.
