Chloe Witcher closed her sophomore golf season tied for 17th in Girls’ State Golf Tournament finals.
She opened Friday at Bowling Green Country Club with a 9-over 81, then improved on that round by two strokes on Day 2 with a 7-over 79. The two rounds left her with a 160 overall.
Athena Singh of Rowan County won the individual title with a 5-under par through two rounds. Kenzie Willen of Cumberland County shot a 148 and finished second.
Sacred Heart won the team title with a 626, while Madison Central was second with a 638.
Barren County’s Witcher shot par through her first four holes in Round 1, but a double bogey and a bogey dropped her off the pace. She finished the first nine holes at 3-over par.
Witcher hit par on 10 of her 18 holes, and also nailed a birdie on Hole 17.
On Day 2, she again posted par on 10 holes, and worked in birdies on holes 10 and 14 to shot two strokes better than she did on Day 1.
