Barren County captured a pair of titles at the Region 2 Competitive Cheer meet on its home floor Saturday.
The Trojans won both the Coed and Game Day Small divisions during the event that featured teams from across central and western Kentucky. Barren County hosted both the Region 1 and Region 2 competitions.
The Trojans, who won the Coed A state title in 2016, scored 82.10 points in the Coed division Saturday to run away with the regional title. Russell County was second with 63.10 points.
In the highly competitive Game Day Small Division, Barren posted 91.50 points, and beat second-place Franklin-Simpson by 2.40 points. There were 16 teams in the division, which allows five to advance to state. Glasgow also competed in the division and finished 15th with 73 points.
There are six divisions of competition. Each has specific requirements based on squad composition. There have been several changes to the divisions since the Kentucky High School Athletics Association first sanctioned state-level competition in 2012.
The state competition is at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester on Dec. 13-14.
Barren has mostly competed in coed divisions. See a list of state-level results for the Trojans below.
