The Barren County Trojans, prior to last week, had won only one football playoff game in the 50 years of the program’s history. Now, they have won two in one postseason.
With 27 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Jordan Harris caught a 12-yard pass from Tate Spillman in the end zone. Jacob Dooley booted the extra point to give the Trojans a 16-13 lead over North Hardin in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs Friday night in Radcliff. A sack by Daylan Thomas and Colton Thomas of North Hardin quarterback Durelle Logins 27 seconds later ended the game, and propelled the Trojans to their third playoff victory in program history.
Barren County hits the road to Great Crossing in Georgetown next Friday. The Warhawks stunned No. 1 DuPont Manual, 28-21, to advance to the regional round for the first time in school history. Great Crossing opened in Scott County in 2019. They won their first playoff game last week, beating Meade County, 37-30.
The Trojans won their first playoff game in 1992 when they beat Oldham County, 28-16. They won their second playoff game last week at Henderson County, 21-14. Barren’s first season as a consolidated school was 1973. The victory in Radcliff gave the program its third 10-win season at 10-2. Barren was 10-1 in 1974 and 10-1 in 1979.
