BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU men’s basketball has announced the signing of three-star recruit Julius Thedford of Cordova High School in Memphis, Tenn. The 6-foot-4 guard ranks as a consensus top-five prospect in the state of Tennessee for the 2024 recruiting class.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to coach Julius,” Hilltopper Basketball head coach Hank Plona said. “He is a young man full of excitement and competitive joy. He plays to win and will leave it all on the court every time he puts a WKU uniform on. I can’t wait to see how he continues to grow into the person and player we know he will be. Julius will have a great career as a Hilltopper.”
Thedford helped lead Cordova HS to a 29-4 record in his senior season while averaging 21 points and seven rebounds per game. Prior to competing for Cordova, Thedford averaged 23.8 points per contest as a junior at Whitehaven High School in Memphis.
Thedford joins WKU after a standout career with MoKan Elite, one of the top AAU programs in the country. Thedford charted a 50.0% clip from three-point range at the prestigious Peach Jam in Augusta, Ga. The Memphis native competed on the AAU circuit with fellow Hilltopper Basketball commit Kade Unseld.
Thedford is the first signee to be announced by Plona for the Tops’ 2024 signing class and the second high school commit for the 2024-25 season.
